Review week letters A-D

Circle time we just went over the letters and the days of the week.The ABC song was also sung.
 
They played with the foam letters
 
Then we looked for circles
 
Triangles
 
Squares
We had an alphabet race where I would call out a letter and have them say the sound and they would race to it.

Then I wrote down words and had them match it up with the letters
For music and movement we played freeze tag.
For colors I had the tot pick out different color crayons and color with them.He still gets a lot of his colors mixed up.
Last was practicing counting.I wrote 1-4 on a piece of paper and he matched the number with the same number of counters.He still needs a lot of assistance with this as well.It is mostly familiarizing him with letters and numbers at this age.But it is a great review for my Kindergartner!

Letter D-Dinos and more

We stomped like dinosaurs all the way to our Dino den(bunk bed with a blanket over it) and read about dinosaurs.Then we had an egg hunt.There was 4 of them to introduce the number 4.There were little treats inside too!The kids even hid them for Mommy.

 

Next was Domino drop.You get a container or bowl and have them stand over it to see how many they can get into the bowl. Then I got spoons and other bowls and more game pieces and my daughter said "thanks for entertaining us Mom.This should keep us busy." I think kids are way more perceptive then we think.They poured and they mixed.

 Dinosaurs come out with your scales up!
I found these cute masks from sparklebox.co.uk


I made these clay fossils the night before.It was a lot of fun but time consuming.I thought that they turned out pretty good.What I did was print out printable dino skeletons and then used those papers to know where to carve into the clay.Some of it I did more elaborate than others.


Burry fossils in the sand.Give soon to be paleontologists, brushes and let the dig begin!



Assemble the dinosaurs.We found a T-Rex tooth and we are missing the body of one.



We found the body to a Brachiosaurus.These are not to scale ha ha.

Just for fun here is a real casting of a raptor like claw so it is a replica.It is of a new discovery of a Mongolian dinosaur.It is in in the Dromaeosaur family, including Utahraptor,Velociraptor and Deinonychus.Below is a fossil of an Ammonite.Class:Cephelopod.Age:Devonian to Jurassic(417-144 million years ago.

 

We learned about different dinos.
We also made our own dino necklaces.



Materials: cereal with a hole in the middle,marshmallows,string, and scissors.

Step 1.Cut marshmallows into triangle shape.

Step2:Cut string into necklace.

Step3:Attach tooth to necklace and add your rings


Step4:Eat and enjoy.The mellows get sticky.

The 3 little Dinosaurs by Jim Harris. tied right into our theme and number of the week! It is a spoof off of the 3 little pigs.We ran our of time to act out scenes from the book with play-doh.
