Letter H-Halloween lesson for preschool and babies

Scripture:Mosiah 3:19
For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is; wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
We are not hallow like a carved pumpkin,but we have a space within us or a gap that can only be filled by God.We talked about the sacrament and how it can fill us where we might be empty and lacking.Just like the pumpkins when the light of the spirit is in us we glow and show we are happy.We are hollow and empty without God and his plan for us.

Story:The bookstore Ghost

In this book the bookstore owner only likes 3 things.So I asked my little guy his favorite 3.You could have Older kids write it out and why they like it.
Three things I like is:playing cars,eating cheese sandwiches,and reading books about Dinosaurs and trains.

Music and movement:
We made ghost streamers to twirl around while listening to Halloween music.

Fairy tale week Cont.F,G and H

We are still going with our Fairy Tale week.We worked on the letter G for Gingerbread man.I printed out a cute little story sequencing.It was perfect for Rowen and Lexi could fill in the blanks with the correct word. Here is the link for the sequencing activity @ first-school.ws
 
Go to fairy tales and then Gingerbread story.We also read the story of the little red Hen.H is for Hen.We talked about being helpful and how it isn't always easy to stop playing to help Mommy or to clean up.What child doesn't need that lesson repeated over and over right?
Lexi practiced her letters F,G and H.

They each got there own Princess and Prince crown.We talked about the shapes and then they decorated their crown.Their play d'oh is a little mixed up and looking pretty gross.I need to get more colors. These pictures are courtesy of makinglearningfun.com

Letter H-Hellicopter

Sometimes when I am preparing my lessons the kids want to help and then they know what is coming so I try to read stories or do something and they want to play with what they helped with.Today was one of those days. They saw the bin with the cotton balls.I have seen a lot of people using sensory bin of cotton for snow but for my purposes they were clouds and I hid ABC cards in there with bobby pins on them.Then I took the boy's helicopter and tied a string with a clothes pin and a magnet taped to it.I am pretty simple when it comes to my crafts and things that we make.A lot of these ideas came to me late last night while I couldn't sleep.



Exploring the cotton balls first.
 


 Then I gave them clothes pins to work on those fine motor skills.That is when there imagination rally took off and they were making recipes and grabbing different utensils.


 Lexi stretched the cotton balls out to make burritos and bacon.

Here is a helicopter I made so we could talk about shapes.

Here is another thing I made for counting practice.They could put the counters in the circles.


Lexi practiced her number writing.

She decided instead of using the counters she would write the numbers to count.

We used the cotton balls to count the clouds.

Rowie loaded the cotton balls up on his truck.
